Pistachio is a seed of tree belonging to family also comprising cashew and mango.

Pistachio allergy can display the variety of symptoms from mild oral allergy to severe life-threatening systemic reactions, i.e. anaphylactic shock or bronchial asthma. Allergy to pistachios is commonly associated with allergy to cashew nut. This combination is among the most common within tree nut allergens.

Food Allergen Labeling and Consumer Protection Act identified that tree nuts allergy is one of the 8 major food allergies that should be to be labeled specifically. In EU, tree nuts are included into to the list of allergens established by European Food Safety Authority, which must be indicated in foods according to EU Law.

XEMATest Pistachio does not detect the antigens of cereals, legumes and other nuts.
